Welcome to AKAB — Azad Kashmir Association of the Blind
Turning Darkness into Light
At AKAB, we are committed to providing comprehensive support to visually impaired individuals, fostering their growth and ensuring they lead fulfilling lives.
Our flagship initiative, the AKAB School for the Blind, stands as a beacon of hope for blind students. From pre-nursery to matriculation, more than 150 male and female students receive free education. We go beyond academics by offering complimentary stationary, books, uniforms, and transport for local students. For those coming from distant areas, we provide free hostel accommodation and nutritious meals. Our separate hostels for girls and boys accommodate over 70 students, creating a supportive and inclusive environment for their holistic development.
Our passionate team, led by Professor Muhammad Ilyas Ayoub, is dedicated to serving the blind community. With a focus on both religious and general education, our staff works tirelessly to ensure that every student at AKAB receives the guidance and support needed for a bright future. Our commitment extends beyond the classroom, aiming to equip our students with the skills and knowledge necessary for personal and professional success.
AKAB is not just an association; it’s a community that believes in the potential of every visually impaired individual. We invite you to join hands with us in creating opportunities for the blind community. Whether through volunteering, donations, or spreading awareness, your support can make a significant impact on the lives of those we serve.
